  I just finished my last day of work at the pool this afternoon. All around, the summer has been quite nice. Not so hot that the pool has 500 people in it constantly, but during most of the summer not too cold for me to go swimming, either. Although the last several weeks it has been quite cold, and we haven't really needed even all 6 of the lifeguards who are still left to work all the time.

  I will be heading back to school this Saturday, and then classes start on the following Tuesday. I have one of my textbooks already, which although new was much cheaper than the regular list price because it was an international edition.

• Friday, August 13, 2004
  The last few days have been exceptionally cold here, barely reaching 60° a couple of them. That was nice for working, though. I averaged less than an hour of work on the last three days, although I got paid for 8 on each. The rest of the time was spent reading, watching DVDs, or being extremely bored.

  Our dishwasher has been out of commission recently. It turns out its air gap was cracked, which caused it to leak, so we taped it, which severely reduced the air gap, which finally got clogged with something. In trying to find a new air gap, however, we were having trouble, until we located our model: a dialysis airgap, which explains why we were having so much trouble!

• Friday, August 6, 2004
  I just got apicoectomies performed on my two front teeth. Hopefully this will prevent further infections. He used a very strong anesthetic, so that even now, 3 hours after the operation, one side of my upper lip is still a bit tingly. It even numbed my nose for awhile! Hopefully this will be the last major dental procedure I need for a good long time.
