as I fly I cast my shadow before me
farflung, it scours the corners of the earth
the sky turns red, the sun sinks down
my shadow stretches onward
fly! hurry! don't stop!
on! on! on!
above the land and through the dusk
my shadow rushes swiftly
for it must reach its resting place
before the sky is dark
fly! hurry! don't stop!
on! on! on!
on wind and rain and blowing leaves
my shadow briefly rests
but it lingers long nowhere
for it is ever driven onward
fly! hurry! don't stop!
on! on! on!
my shadow wanes but does not stop
it grows ever longer, flies ever faster
cities, countries, continents blur by
but still my shadow finds no peace
fly! hurry! don't stop!
on! on! on!
but time conspires against my shadow
and it is flung far from the earth
a brief pulse of darkness
to travel the universe forever
