I took some pictures a week or so ago of the forsythias that are blooming.
Here are some of the final results of my CAD class: some views of our F-14 inlet model, and a Mach number analysis from running a computation fluid dynamics simulation on a 2-D cross section. The inlet is about 20 feet long, and 3 feet wide and deep. The red for the Mach number display is slightly under Mach 3, and the blue is slightly under Mach 1.
Sptring has really appeared here lately. A week ago things didn't really look too spring-like, except that the grass was slightly greener than it had been. But now a lot of flowers have grown up and bloomed, and the forsythias are all in bloom. The temperatures have been very pleasant. All that's left is leaves for the trees...
School has been keeping me rather busy, lately. Last week I had 3 midterms, at least two of which I did well on. For my CAD class 3 other guys and I went to the Kalamazoo Air Zoo airplane museum to measure the inlet of an F-14. We are currently modeling it in CAD software and then we will run computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and various other simulations on it to see how it will respond at higher Mach numbers than it was to operate under. The inlet itself is fairly large, about 3 feet tall on the inside, and 30" wide. One of us actually climbed inside to make measurements at the back, and was sitting cross-legged inside the inlet. Unfortunately, we didn't get a picture of that! You can see pictures I did take here. Unfortunately the light was rather low, so to get a decent picture I had to use a longer exposure, which resulted in some slight blurriness in some cases.
I've also added some more pictures of my family.
